Ovechking announced yesterday that he would not take part in the All-Star game festivities. His decision came just days after the NHL decided to suspend him for three games due to a hit in the back on Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek.
McDonald served as an NHL All-Star in 2007 for the Anaheim Ducks. In three games played this season he has two assists and two penalty minutes served.
