Former Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress is closing in on a deal that will make him the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Mike Sherman was also a finalist for the position, according to the paper, but he is reportedly close to taking the same position with the Miami Dolphins. Childress coached alongside new Cleveland head coach Pat Shurmur in Philadelphia, where Shurmur was quarterbacks coach and Childress was offensive coordinator of the Eagles. Childress later became head coach of the Vikings, where he coached from 2006-2010.
