Mike Sherman was also a finalist for the position, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, but he took the offensive coordinator position with the Miami Dolphins earlier today. Childress coached alongside new Cleveland head coach Pat Shurmur in Philadelphia, where Shurmur was quarterbacks coach and Childress was offensive coordinator of the Eagles. Childress later became head coach of the Vikings, where he coached from 2006-2010.
