Nationals Re-Sign Rick Ankiel To Minor-League Contract

The sports world is 99 percent shut down for tonight's Super Bowl showdown in Indianapolis, but here's one little news tidbit that trickled in just before kickoff -- the Washington Nationals have re-signed Rick Ankiel.

Ankiel made $1.5 million on a one-year contract for the Nats last season. He posted a subpar batting line of .239/.296/.363 as the team's regular center fielder, but the former pitcher was better known for his throwing arm, one of the best in the game.
