Peyton Manning May Want To Play For Redskins If Released

Sources report that if Peyton Manning is released by the Colts, he may want to play for the Washington Redskins, according to 94 WIP / NBC 10 TV personality Howard Eskin’s twitter account.

This news comes after Mike Jones of the Washington Post confirmed last week that the Redskins were interested in acquiring the quarterback if he fully recovered from his injury.  The “smokescreen” Eskin may be reffering to could be when the Redskins’ president of operations Dennis Green was overheard telling people at the Washington Economic Club Luncheon held a couple weeks ago that a new quarterback has been chosen and that “fans will be elated.”

If Manning is not released by March 8, the Colts must pay him a $28 million roster bonus, a hefty price for a 35-year old quarterback still recovering from a spinal fusion surgery.  With the Colts likely to acquire former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the April draft, many reports suggests that Manning will likely be released from the team before the March deadline.
