The Oakland Raiders have officially named former Stanford assistant, Jason Tarver, as their next defensive coordinator, according to a press release from the Raiders’ website.

Tarver, 37, will work under the defensive-minded head coach Dennis Allen in Oakland. While at Stanford, Tarver assisted in leading the team to a third ranked defense that averaged three sacks a game, with an 11-2 record this season. Prior to this season with the Cardinals, Tarver spent 2001-2010 season with the San Francisco 49ers’ staff, working in various capacities and working his way up within the organization.
