The New York Islanders and Danish center Frans Nielsen have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $11 million, according to ESPNNewYork.com. Nielsen would have become a free agent in July of this year.

Nielsen, 27, was drafted by New York in 2002, and he has spent his entire career as an Islander. On the season, Nielsen has nine goals and 16 assists in 51 games.
