The Oakland Raiders announced Thursday that they have cut cornerback Stanford Routt just six months after signing him to a five-year deal, according to ESPN.com.

The Raiders and Routt agreed to a five-year deal worth $54.5 million in August, but the overhauled coaching staff decided to let Routt go. Routt, 28, has spent the last seven years with Oakland, recording 10 interceptions a 51 pass breakups.
