Maryland Terrapins Land Top Football Recruit Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs, a two-way high school football star from Olney, Md., has committed to his hometown Maryland Terrapins, according to ESPN.

Diggs, a wide receiver and defensive back who ranked No. 13 on ESPNU's list of top prospects, narrowed his short list down to Maryland, Florida, Auburn and Ohio State before making his final decision tonight.

Florida was thought to be the favorite to land Diggs as late as last week's signing day, but Diggs made an official visit to Maryland last weekend, and a sales pitch from first-year coach Randy Edsall helped make the difference.

Diggs joins tailback Wes Brown and two-way star Albert Reid among notable local studs in the Terps' recruiting class.
