Fox Sports writer Jason Whitlock apologized for his inappropriate tweet about Jeremy Lin after the Knicks’ sensation point guard scored 38 points in the win against the Lakers, according to Fox Sports.
After the Knicks' win, Whitlock tweeted, “Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple inches of pain tonight.” Shortly after, Whitlock issued an apologetic statement saying, “The couple-inches-of-pain tweet overshadowed my sincere celebration of Lin’s performance and the irony that the stereotype applies to pot-bellied, overweight male sports writers, too. As the Asian American Journalist Association pointed out, I debased a feel-good sports moment. For that, I’m truly sorry.”
Whitlock’s apology came after the Asian American Journal Association expressed their “outrage” at Whitlock’s tweet through a letter posted on the AAJA Facebook page. Against the Lakers, Lin continued to shock the world scoring 38 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Once cut by both the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, Lin continues to rise up to the occasion winning all of his first five starts with the Knicks despite the absence of star players Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire.
