Kobe Bryant is for the signing of free-agent guard Gilbert Arenas, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

"It certainly wouldn't hurt," Bryant told reporters when asked about whether the Lakers needed Arenas. Bryant also reportedly told reporters that Arenas would bring, “Hibatchi,” to Los Angeles, a reference to a nickname Arenas gave himself after scoring 60 points on the Lakers in 2006.

The Lakers reportedly attended a private workout with Arenas this week and were impressed by his mobility. Arenas, 30, has been a free agent since the Orlando Magic waived him via the amnesty clause prior to this season. He was ineffective in 70 games last year split between Orlando and Washington, averaging career lows of 10.8 points and 2.7 assists per contest.
