The Yankees have been working for the better part of a week on re-signing Eric Chavez, and according to CBS' Jon Heyman, it's now looking like a done deal:

Chavez played in 58 games for the Yankees last year -- he hit .263 with only two homers and made $1.5 million. A former Gold Glover at third base, he split time last season among the hot corner, first base and DH. Heyman also reports that Chavez's new contract is a guaranteed major league deal, and the 34-year-old veteran will make $900,000 in 2012.
