The 28-year-old pitched in just 1.2 innings last season for the Los Angeles Angels , spending the majority of the year attempting to solve his velocity and control issues. In five starts for Triple-A Salt Lake, Kazmir posted an 0-5 record with a 17.02 ERA.
In 2010, his last full season, Kazmir posted a 9-15 record for Los Angeles with a 5.94 ERA.
At one point Kazmir was considered one of the best young pitchers in baseball. From 2005-2008, between the ages of 21 and 24, he posted a record of 45-34 and a 3.52 ERA. A two-time All-Star, he also led the Major Leagues in strikeouts in 2007 with 239.
