Nash says he requested the trade in order to help the Blue Jackets rebuild, according to Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch.

The trade deadline passed at 3 p.m. yesterday and Nash was not dealt, meaning he will have to stay with the team through at least the remainder of this season. Through 62 games this year, Nash has tallied 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points. He has not registered 60-or-less points in a season since 2006-07 when he scored 27 goals and tallied 30 assists.
