Baseball’s top prospect, Bryce Harper, has deleted his Twitter account, according to Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington.
"I just wanted to," Harper told Zuckerman. "I was done."
The Nationals’ public relations staff had given the team a lecture on the responsibility of having social media accounts several days ago. The team even brought in a consultant to advise the players on how to handle both social and mainstream media, according to Zuckerman. Harper had previously been particularly active on Twitter. In recent months he had built his following to above 20,000, and was often found interacting with fans and answering questions. His antics had gotten him into trouble at times, however. Harper irked many Washington fans when he told several followers that he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and a New York Yankees fan.
