Report: Brewers' Corey Hart Needs Surgery For Torn Meniscus

Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers will have a minor surgical procedure to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Journal Sentinel. He will be out for three or four weeks.

The Milwaukee right fielder will miss most if not all of spring training, which may lead to the Brewers leaving him on the DL for the start of the regular season. Hart also opened last season on the DL with a strained oblique.

"The tough part is that he will miss the at-bats here," said Gord Ash, the Brewers' assistant GM. "But it could have been worse."

Hart, who turns 30 later this month, is a two-time All-Star. He hit .285 last season with 26 home runs and 63 RBIs.
