Bryan Stow, who was violently beaten on Opening Day 2011, has been moved to a new rehab facility that will grant him further independence, according to MLB.com. Stow, a Giants fan, was attacked outside Dodger Stadium last year.

At the new facility, Stow, 43, will not be under constant supervision in an effort to make him more independent, according to the report. He will share an apartment with two other victims of brain trauma.

Stow has been recuperating since last April, when the attack left him in a coma. He is attempting to sue the Dodgers, who are currently bankrupt. The organization has asked for Stow to wait to pursue litigation until they emerge from bankruptcy. He is seeking $50 million in damages. Two men have been charged in the attack, and they are awaiting trial.
