The New York Jets have shown interest in acquiring quarterback Peyton Manning, who was released by the Indianapolis Colts today, according to the Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Rumors have swirled that the Jets were interested in Manning even towards the end of this season as Mark Sanchez failed to lead the team to the playoffs. There have been no reports publicly stating that New York was interested in Manning or any other quarterback to replace Sanchez, but Manning's availability could alter that. Earlier today, it was reported that the Denver Broncos were interested in Manning, as well.
