The New York Jets and Sione Pouha have agreed to a three-year contract, according to ESPN New York.

Financial terms of the deal have not yet been made available, however the contract has helped the Jets accomplish one of their offseason goals; keep the free agent nose tackle off of the open market. Pouha served as a captain for the Jets last season, and is considered an important presence in the team’s locker room.

Last year Pouha recorded 58 tackles, one sack, and had two fumble recoveries.

The 33-year-old has been a starter under Rex Ryan for the past three seasons.
