According to Heyman, the restructuring involves eliminating one of his contract options, which are $9 million for 2013 and $14 million for 2014. However, Carmona will not receive any money until he returns to the United States and is removed from the restricted list.
Carmona has yet to receive clearance for a visa, partially due to the revelation that he has been playing under a false name. His real name is reportedly Roberto Hernandez Heredia. Last season he posted a 5.25 ERA with a 7-15 record and 109 strikeouts.
