Mike D’Antoni has resigned as the head coach of the New York Knicks, according to Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated.

An earlier report today from the New York Post cited a confidant of Carmelo Anthony’s that said the star forward wanted Mike D’Antoni gone. The source also indicated that if D’Antoni was not removed by next season, then Anthony would seek a trade. These rumors were later denied by Anthony’s agent. Currently, the Knicks (18-24) are out of playoff position, having lost eight of the last ten games.
