Saints Sign Former Ravens G Ben Grubbs To 5-Year, $36 Million

The New Orleans Saints signed former Baltimore Ravens guard Ben Grubbs to a five-year, $36 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Grubbs’ deal includes a $10 million signing bonus and $16 million guaranteed.  The former Ravens guard will be replacing Carl Nicks, who left the Saints to sign a five-year, $47.5 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Saints quarterback Drew Brees expressed his disappointment in losing Nicks emphasizing to reporters that Nicks played a integral role in the 2009 Super Bowl run.

The Ravens attempted to re-sign Grubbs before free agency, however, the demand was too high for the guard.  In an effort to replace Grubbs, the Ravens will be hosting free agent guard Evan Mathis from the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday.
