Pettitte announced his retirement on February 4, 2011, walking away from a 16-year career, all with the Yankees. After briefly appearing in spring training as a guest instructor a couple weeks ago, Pettitte made the surprising announcement today that he was coming back for real. The Yankees are dusting off the lefty's No. 46 jersey for the 2012 season.

Pettitte's return is a welcome development for the Yanks, who were anticipating some thinness at the back of their rotation. After CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova and Hiroki Kuroda, the Yanks' arms are riddled with question marks.
