The 30-year-old Mathis was seriously considering an offer from the Baltimore Ravens before ultimately deciding to stay with the Eagles, who had originally signed him to a one-year deal at the conclusion of the lockout last summer. Mathis will now stay in the City of Brotherly Love through 2016. An Alabama alum, Mathis was the Carolina Panthers' third-round draft pick in 2005. He played for the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals as well before arriving in Philly last season.
