The Philadelphia Phillies have released starting pitcher Joe Pineiro, according to MLBTradeRumours.com

The 33-year old Pineiro signed a minor league deal with the Phillies this past January which could have earned him $1.5 million on the MLB roster.

Through 24 games with the Los Angeles Angels in 2011, Pineiro went 7-7 with 5.13 ERA. Pineiro had previously pitched for the Mariners, Red Sox, and Cardinals.
