Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Derek Fisher is said to be in "advanced negotiations" with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to ESPN.com. If Fisher clears waivers, he will become a free agent Wednesday evening.

The report states that Fisher is "very close" to signing with the Thunder.

Thunder superstar Kevin Durant endorsed the move Tuesday morning. "Derek is a consummate professional ... an unbelievable leader," Durant said, according to ESPN. "And he played with arguably one of the greatest players to ever play in Kobe (Bryant), and Kobe really respected him as a player and wanted him on his team, so that speaks volumes."
