The man that Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Matt Bush hit is in critical condition and is currently in a medically induced coma, according to Tampa Bay Online.
The accident happened last Thursday, when Bush was allegedly driving under the influence and hit motorcyclist Tony Tufano. Bush fled the scene in Port Charlotte Floirda. According to Tufano’s family, the 72-year-old is unresponsive. Bush was selected first overall by the San Diego Padres in 2004 out of Mission Bay High school. His professional career started poorly when he was suspended before ever getting to play due to a bar fight. He hit .192 in 99 at bats between the Rookie-level Arizona league and the short-season Northwest league. He later transitioned to pitching.
