The Atlanta Braves have traded reliever Jairo Asencio to the Cleveland Indians for cash, according to ESPN.

Asencio posted a 1.81 ERA in 47 appearances in Triple-A last season out of the pen for Gwinnett. In just six major league appearances he posted a 6.97 ERA in 10.1 innings for the Braves.

The 27-year-old missed the entirety of 2010 when it was revealed that he had falsified his identity to come to the United States. At the time he had claimed to be Luis Valdez, and told the Braves that he was three years younger than he actually was.

Asencio had 26 saves last season, and is expected to be a candidate for one of the final spots in Cleveland’s bullpen.
