Report: Bill Parcells Might Coach Saints As Favor For Friend Sean Payton

The speculation continues about Bill Parcells possibly returning to the NFL as a one-year filling for the New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton -- and while Parcells initially said he wasn't feeling the itch to coach again, he's now indicating he may take the job after all, for Payton's sake.

"If this guy says to me, 'Bill, I need you to do this,'" Parcells told Bob Glauber of Newsday, "that's what friends are supposed to be for."

Parcells, 70, says he's turned down two offers since 2006 to return to NFL head coaching. But this one is a little different, since Parcells and Payton have been friends ever since the former hired the latter as an offensive assistant coach on the Dallas Cowboys back in 2003. Now, with Payton and Saints GM Mickey Loomis suspended because of the team's bounty scandal, Parcells may step in.

For now, though, there have been no official job offers made. While the two sides have spoken, we're still far from anything concrete happening.
