New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton will file an appeal of his year-long suspension for his role in the team’s bounty program, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Payton will also use the appeal to clear up some parameters of the suspension and a ruling from commissioner Roger Goodell would come in “days, not weeks,” according to Schefter. In addition to Payton’s suspension, the team was fined $500,000 and lost two draft picks. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis was also suspended eight games and former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was suspended indefinitely.
