Los Angeles Lakers Not Worried About Andrew Bynum's Ankle

The Los Angeles Lakers are not worried about Andrew Bynum’s recent ankle injury, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Bynum suffered a moderate sprain in his left ankle Sunday in a 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors. He hurt the ankle when attempting to block a shot by Warriors power forward David Lee in the first quarter, he left the game and did not return.

"I don't think it's going to be long-term," Lakers head coach Mike Brown told the paper. "Obviously, I want to wait and see before I start thinking about hypotheticals."

"I think he was feeling OK and he said it's no big deal," big man teammate Pau Gasol added. "I think he'll be fine."

Bynum, 24, has been relatively healthy this season missing just six contests overall for the Lakers. The talented young center has battled with lower body injuries for much of his career, and has not played a full 82-game season since 2006-07. Last year he played in just 54 contests.

This season has been by far Bynum’s most productive. He is currently averaging 17.9 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.
