Cavaliers' Daniel Gibson Needs Ankle Surgery, Season Likely Over

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson will need likely season-ending surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left foot and ankle, according to the Associated Press.

Gibson sustained the injury during a win over the New Jersey Nets on March 19. The team consulted with an outside specialist before deciding the sixth-year guard needed surgery. His timetable will be updated following a "post-operative review," but his season is likely over. The Cavs' season finale is on April 26 against the Chicago Bulls.

Gibson is averaging 7.5 points per game for the Cavs this season. He's primarily been used in a sixth-man role this year, starting only seven of 35 games.
