Report: LSU's Trent Johnson Leading Candidate For TCU Open Position

Trent Johnson, currently the head basketball coach at LSU, is the leading candidate to become the next head coach at TCU, according to Stefan Stevenson of College Confidential.

A source tells Stevenson that TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte has officially asked for LSU’s permission to interview Johnson. Johnson just finished his fourth year at LSU, where he is making around $1.2 million. TCU paid its previous head coach Jim Christian under $600,000; it would require a significant spending jolt to pry Johnson away from the Tigers.

Johnson went 18-14 this past season at LSU; the Tigers finished eighth in the SEC and earned an NIT berth.
