Julius Thomas, the Denver Broncos' fourth-round draft pick last year who struggled to stay healthy his rookie season, underwent ankle surgery this week, according to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post.
The Broncos' tight end underwent an operation to repair ligaments in his ankle, Legwold reports. Dr. Robert Anderson performed the surgery.
This comes after Thomas played just four games last year, recording only one catch for five yards; he suffered a severe ankle injury that derailed him early in the season. The Broncos are set to open their offseason program April 16; Thomas will be there to work toward a recovery with the team’s training and medical staff.
