Former NBA point guard, Stephon Marbury will have his image immortalized in bronze after leading his Chinese team, the Beijing Ducks, to their first ever CBA championship, according to Yahoo Sports.

Within hours of the team’s victory, an online campaign was created to build the statue in honor Marbury’s contribution to the Ducks. More than 200,000 fans threw their support behind the project, and more than one million voted for the construction of the statue.

The statue is currently in clay form and is being brought to Jiangxi Province, where it will be prepped to be bronzed. The entire process will be completed in 24 days. Marbury had a successful NBA career before leaving for China. During the championship series he averaged 33.4 points, 6.2 assists, and four rebounds.
