The NBA Summer League will return this season to Las Vegas after a one year hiatus due to the NBA lockout, according to NBA.com.

The league is designed to be a destination for rookies as well as fringe NBA players who are looking to improve on their game in a structured environment prior to the next NBA season. With the NBA owners locking out the players last year, the league was not able to function.

As a result, some players organized All-Star caliber pickup games for charity. Others went overseas for the offseason to play. The Las Vegas Summer League was founded in 2004.
