Report: Arkansas Interested In Former Tennessee HC Phillip Fulmer

The Arkansas Razorbacks have been in contact with former Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer for the open head coaching position, according to CBS Sports.

In a radio interview with WGFX-FM 104.5 Arkansas, Fulmer’s former assistant coach at Tennessee, Doug Matthews,  said, “I know Phillip has had conversations with [Arkansas].”  Matthews said he did not know the amount of interest from either party.

Matthews said the Razorbacks contacted Fulmer as soon as they fired Bobby Petrino on April 10.  Despite Petrino’s success as a coach, the school fired him as a result of the inappropriate relations he was having with an Arkansas employee.

Fulmer has not coached since 2008, when his 17-year tenure at Tennessee ended.
