WKMG Orlando is reporting that Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard called team owner, Rich Devos, to inform him that he will not play for coach Stan Van Gundy anymore.

Howard is reportedly upset that Van Gundy told the press last month that the All-Star center had asked management to fire the head coach. Earlier in the season Howard appealed to the Magic’s management for a trade, but later signed a waiver that will keep him in Orlando through next season.

Howard recently missed his sixth straight game with a back injury yesterday against the Celtics, and Van Gundy publicly announced that he would most likely miss the rest of the season including the playoffs. The six-time All-Star was averaging 20.6 points, 14.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks prior to his injury.
