Horford, 25, played in just 11 games this season before tearing his left pectoral muscle. The All-Star guard had previously never missed more than 15 games in a season due to injury.
The Hawks are currently 38-26, which ranks them fifth in the Eastern Conference. Last year they entered the playoffs with the fifth seed as well. In 77 contests in 2010-11, Horford averaged 15.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
