Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain, according to MLB.com

“With obliques, you just don’t know how long they’re going to take,” Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said to MLB.com. “He’s shown improvement. We’re hopeful that he’s only going to miss a couple of starts.”

Lee said he felt that he sustained the injury on a pitch in the 10th inning of the Phillies' 1-0 loss to the Giants on Wednesday in San Francisco.  Despite the loss and injury, he threw 10 scoreless innings, striking out seven and allowing seven hits. Thus far this season, Lee is 0-1 with a 1.96 ERA and 18 strikeouts. To fill Lee's spot on the roster, the Phillies have recalled left-hander Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Savery is expected to join the Phillies on Sunday against the Padres.
