Arkansas will name former Michigan State head coach John L. Smith as their interim football coach to replace Bobby Petrino in 2012, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Petrino was fired earlier this month after a motorcycle accident revealed that he had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with Razorbacks athletic department employee Jessica Dorrell. Dorrell later resigned from her position. Petrino was successful on the field during his four years at Arkansas — he went 34-17, including 21-5 in his last two seasons. He led the team to a Cotton Bowl victory and earned a Sugar Bowl berth as well.
