Simpson, 26, was recently sentenced to 15 days in jail and three years’ probation following a guilty plea on felony drug charges. Police had intercepted two pounds of marijuana that was shipped to Simpson’s house, and after searching his property officers found six more pounds of illegal narcotics.
Simpson had visited with the St. Louis Rams and the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, and may still sign with a team despite the suspension. In 16 games for the Bengals in 2011, he caught 50 passes for 725 yards and four touchdowns.
