Report: Buccaneers May Try To Trade Up To Draft Trent Richardson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may trade up to the No. 3 pick to acquire running back Trent Richardson, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Buccaneers currently have the No. 5 overall pick in tonight’s NFL draft. However, it is believed that Richardson, considered the best running back in the draft, will be off the board as early as the No. 3 pick. The Minnesota Vikings currently hold the third pick, and with the presence of Adrian Peterson it is not likely that they would draft a running back of their own, however several teams have reportedly expressed interest in trading up to this spot so they can draft the Alabama star.

During his only season as a starter for the Crimson Tide, Richardson set the school single-season rushing records with 1,679 yards and 21 touchdowns.  In 2011 he was the nation’s top running back winning the Doak Walker Award.
