Nationals Promote Bryce Harper, Send Ryan Zimmerman To DL

The Washington Nationals will send star third baseman Ryan Zimmerman to the 15-day disabled list, according to a tweet from the team’s public relations account. The team will recall top prospect Bryce Harper who will make his debut Saturday.

Zimmerman has been battling a shoulder injury for the past week. It was recently reported that the discomfort was caused by a A/C joint issue in his throwing arm. The injury reportedly only hurts when Zimmerman swings a bat.

Harper, 19, was the Nationals top pick in the 2010 MLB Draft. In 20 games at Triple-A this season he has hit .250/.333/.375 with one home run and three RBI. Last year in his first professional season he hit .27/.392/.501 with 17 home runs and 58 RBI.
