Evan Longoria is having an MRI today in Tampa Bay to investigate some soreness he has been having in his left knee, according to Hardballtalk.
The 26-year-old star third baseman was forced to leave the Ray’s game Monday after a slide into second base on a failed stolen base attempt. He was able to walk to the dugout under his own power but did not return to the field after Tampa finished hitting.
Longoria is hitting .329/.433/.561 this season with four home runs and 19 RBI in 23 games played. He is currently leading the first-place Rays in batting and RBIs.
Last year in 133 games he hit .244/.355/.495 with 31 home runs and 99 RBI.
