Report: Celtics' Doc Rivers Hints That Ray Allen Won't Play Game 2

We already know the Boston Celtics will be without Rajon Rondo for Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow night -- he received a one-game suspension today. Now it sounds like Ray Allen won't be there either, C's coach Doc Rivers hinted today.

"If Ray is not ready, he’s not ready," Rivers told ESPN Boston today. "One thing I don’t do -- I’ll never do it, and maybe I’m wrong in it -- I don’t ever put a guy out if he isn’t ready. I just won’t put him on the floor. If Ray told me he could play and [team trainer] Eddie [Lacerte] said he didn’t think he could play, Ray would not play. That’s just the way it is. [Allen] said he felt a little better, but I don’t see it right now."

Allen has been out since April 10 with bone spurs in his right ankle; the Celtics have used a starting backcourt of Rondo and Avery Bradley in his absence. If Allen can't go tomorrow, expect Rivers to go with Bradley and Mickael Pietrus instead.

Allen averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Celtics this season. He missed 20 games, more than he'd missed in his previous four Boston seasons combined.

The Celtics face the Hawks in Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow.
