The Oakland Raiders and quarterback Matt Leinart have agreed to a deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Leinart spent the past two seasons with the Houston Texans. The tenth overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and winner of the '04 Heisman Trophy will take a familiar role as a backup to Carson Palmer, who started ahead of Leinart at USC.
