Brewers 1B Mat Gamel Likely Out For Season With Torn ACL

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Mat Gamel has torn his ACL and is likely done for the season, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

Gamel suffered the injury in last night's loss to the San Diego Padres --

when trying to catch a foul ball of the bat of Nick Hundley in the first inning, he ran into the Petco Park wall along the first-base line and twisted his right knee. He was forced to leave the game.

Gamel was just settling into the regular first baseman's job now, in his fifth major league season -- he was hitting .246 with a home run and two doubles in 21 games so far.
