The New York Knicks are working with Mike Woodson on a contract extension, a source has told the New York Daily News.

Woodson is currently serving as the team’s interim head coach after replacing Mike D’Antoni midway through the year. After taking over the reins in New York, the Knicks posted an 18-6 record in the regular season.

The club currently trails the Miami Heat 3-1 in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. There have been rumors that the Knicks would attempt to make a major splash in the offseason by hiring Phil Jackson or even University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari. Woodson, however, has built a strong working relationship with stars Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire.
