It will be Koivu's 17th season in the NHL, and fourth in Anaheim; he scored 38 points in 74 games for the Ducks last season. Prior to his arrival in Southern California, he was the longtime captain of the Montreal Canadiens, for whom he played his first 13 seasons. Koivu has thrived in Anaheim on the same line with friend and Finnish countryman Teemu Selanne; Selanne is also a free agent this summer and hasn't yet announced whether he'll return next season.
